New postgraduate students can apply for a loan to help towards their course and living costs

Students starting a postgraduate Master’s course from 1 August 2017 can apply for a Postgraduate Loan now!

The quickest and easiest way to apply is online at www.gov.uk/postgraduateloan

If they’ve already had student finance for an undergraduate course they won’t need to register a new account - they can use the login details they already have. If they’re registering for the first time they’ll need to create a password and secret answer.

To complete their application they’ll need:

  • their valid UK passport (if they have one),
  • their university and course details,
  • their bank details, and
  • their National Insurance number.

They don’t need a confirmed place at university – they can use their preferred choice and simply change the details later if they need to.

Once they start their application they can save it at any time and go back to finish it later – but if they want their money in time for the start of their course they should apply as soon as possible!
