The deadline might have passed but as long a sstudents apply now they can get some of their money in time for the start of their course.

The student finance deadline has passed but students can still apply – they just might not get all their money in time for the start of their course.

If you work with students who are starting university or college in 2017/18 and they haven’t applied for student finance, encourage them to apply now by following our three easy steps. We’ll make an initial assessment so they’ll have some money as close to the start of their course as possible.

Remind them that they can apply now in three easy steps:

  1. Apply now
It’s quick and easy to apply online at www.gov.uk/studentfinance
If they’ve already started their application online, they should log back into their student finance account and finish it as soon as they can.

  2. Send us any evidence
If we ask them to send us any evidence to support their application, they should send it to us as quickly as possible. Their application isn’t complete and can’t be assessed until we have all the information we need.

  3. Print, sign and return their declaration form
We can’t pay them until they do! Before they send it to us, they should make sure they’ve signed their full name and used the current date – not their date of birth. Any mistakes could delay their application.
