Prior to joining the SLC, Ian was a Principal Local Government
Officer for almost 20 years with Tameside and Manchester Local
Authorities. He was involved with the strategic planning and
funding of post-16 education, and for 15 years headed up the
Student Finance service. Ian also worked with the Department for
Education and Skills and the Learning and Skills Council to help
manage the introduction of the Education Maintenance Allowance
(EMA) scheme across the North of England.

I want to ensure you have the information you need to
support students applying for finance for the 2013/14 academic
year. I have already met over 900 colleagues at events across
the Region in recent months, but there is still time to organise a
briefing during the summer term. Events already booked
include briefings for staff at HEIs, speaking at Teachers and
Advisers Conferences, together with updates for adult careers
advisers across the Region. However, I do have limited availability
in June, with more vacancies throughout July.
